Access to the data network (LAN)
Within the University, workstations (PCs and notebooks) can also be connected directly to the university network via LAN cable. This enables fast access to network services such as mailing or internet.
Our service for you
The service offers users:
- Connect PCs and notebooks directly to the university network via LAN cable.
- Provision of 802.1X sockets for a very stable and fast data connection
- Current overview of all 802.1x sockets available throughout the University
- Instructions for authentication on the wired network
- Static DHCP
REQUIREMENTS
- The computer to be connected must have an up-to-date operating system.
- An updating virus scanner (Sophos) must be installed and activated.
Learn more - There should be a firewall active on the computer.
Mehr erfahren - The computer is connected to a network socket with a data cable. If cabling measures have to be carried out or connections have to be made, please contact the Planning and Technology Department. This network socket must be connected to a free port of an associated network distributor (switch). If there are no free ports, the URZ administrators will inform you in the following IP application.
- The computer must be configured with the unique IP address assigned by the URZ.

The use of the service requires compliance with the following regulations:
- For all services of the University Computer Centre, the IuK usage regulations of the University Computer Centre of the University of Leipzig apply in principle. Misuse of services of the University Computer Centre may lead to the termination of the usage permit and, if applicable, to criminal proceedings.
