Qalamos is a union catalogue for oriental and non-European manuscripts that was established within the framework of a DFG-funded project.

Project approach
In the project, the metadata of Arabic, Persian and Ottoman-Turkish manuscripts from more than 25 cooperating institutions are taken over or newly recorded and linked to the existing digital data.
Project goals
The goals of the project are the establishment of common indexing standards, the conversion of printed catalogues into electronic form and the consolidation of all existing electronic records.
In addition, a database of relevant persons will be established, which will be compared with the data of the GND. Gradually, the holdings of numerous other institutions will be accessible.

Cooperations
The project was developed in close cooperation with numerous libraries and research institutions. Not only large collections are to be considered. The aim is to also provide associated small and micro collections with the appropriate infrastructure to be able to present their collections in a subject and material-specific context.
